Symptom: Low RX sensitivity on 2 meters.
Probable Cause: Burned D6 diode on PA unit.
Cure: Replace D6 diode (MA862).

Probable Cause: Bad filter relay.
Cure: Locate and replace faulty filter relay (will be type AHY-103) on the filter circuit board.

Probable Cause: Burned SPE circuit board trace on PLL unit.
Cure: Repair SPE (ground) circuit trace on PLL unit.

Cure: Replace D18 diode (DAP222) and Q1 transistor (2SC4081).

Cure: Install field modification on main unit: Change value of R236 resistor from 27 k, to 68k-82 k.
The higher the resistor value, the greater increase in mic gain.

Symptom: Thin-sounding mic audio.
Cure: Install field mod inside HM-103 microphone: Remove rubber gasket from beneath mic element.

Symptom: Off frequency in FM TX. Other modes OK.
Probable Cause: FM VCO lock voltage needs adjustment.
Cure: Adjust FM VCO lock voltage for 1.5 volts as per service manual.

Probable Cause: Shorted T/R switching transistor.
Cure: Replace shorted Q32 transistor in main unit.

Cure: Replace flex cable EP2 at main board.

Empfänger / RX--Verbesserung beim IC 706:
If you would like to increased recieve on your IC 706 MK II G, here is the procedure:

Take off top cover with front facing you. Behind the left of the VFO against the front of the case is 2 square cans with black phillips screws in them. Don't adjust these, right behind them in the middle is a metal ajustment screw that looks like most of the other ones, like the ajustments for power etc.
Have your radio on SSB and turn clockwise and you will hear the recieve increase. Only turn it a little, that does a lot, you don't want to over do it. Too much will bring in a lot of noise.
I've done it to mine and it really made the ears better than from the factory. As you know, the recieve is great on these rigs, but this improves it more. It takes a jewlers flat head screwdriver, be careful. I'm not responsable if you mess up.
